Database and Platform Solutions

Database and platform technologies

We can provide database solutions for most major platforms and operating systems including MySQL, Oracle SQL, Microsoft SQL and Microsoft Access. We have experience in data synchronisation between different servers and database implementations. We support all Unix-based or Windows platforms and operating systems, using Apache and IIS web-servers (e.g. Linux, SunOs, Windows Server, Mac OS X).

Our database development front-ends include web-based interfaces written in PHP, Perl and JSP etc. We also have extensive experience in Java applications programming and database management solutions.

Our complete database management solutions are a combination of technology and formal database design methods to create tools for our clients to manage their data and for Quadicom to provide database support on their behalf.

A typical production lifecycle in custom database development consists of the following stages:

Stage 1: Requirements analysis
We work closely with our clients to produce a proposal that covers all the main functionality of the system or database solution based on the business logic and the technologies involved, including the target platforms.

Stage 2: Design and functional specifications
From the set of requirements we produce a full specification of the system. This includes a detailed design of the database schema, having defined entities and relationships from the initial requirements. Database schemas are fully normalised, with the relevant data dictionaries defined.

The specification also includes the design of the tools and user interfaces required to manage the databases. This design is fully centred around the business logic defined in Stage 1 , with the view that functionality can be expanded in the future.

Stage 3: Implementation
Our developers then take the functional specification and implement the database design to our high coding standards and procedures. Where appropriate, clients are able to test prototypes during the database development process so as to be confident that the project is moving in the right direction and to provide feedback at key stages.

Stage 4: Testing and acceptance
Once our development team has tested the system, we release it to our client for beta-testing and then again on completion, with a defined acceptance check list.

Stage 5: Deployment
If applicable, Quadicom produce automated application installers which can run from a CD or be launched from a web browser.

Stage 6: Support and maintenance
All our work is covered by warranty, but additional on-going database support and maintenance agreements ensure that your system is carefully monitored and running smoothly on a daily basis.
